Millions of people across the globe are getting involved with one form of paintball or another. And to support the growing popularity of the sport numerous companies have sprung up to meet the rising demand for new and effective paintball gear.
And when I say paintball gear, I’m talking about anything and everything you need to equip yourself with in order to play the game. This article will focus more on the basic paint ball gear you will need to participate in a paintball event.
The amount and type of paintball gear you have will greatly depend on two main factors. First, how much money you can afford to spend on your gear and secondly on what your current skill level is. There is no reason to buy equipment that you aren’t skilled enough to use nor do you have to drain your bank account of your life savings.
However if you decide to get really involved with paintball as a competitive sport, then you will be forced to purchase some fairly specialized and expensive paintball gear in order to compete at a high level. Paintball gear prices range from the low two digits to thousands of dollars depending on what you are buying.
Your basic paintball gear will consist of a paintball gun or marker, propellant system for powering your gun, extra air or gas tanks, paintballs, a hopper or two, a cleaning kit, and a few other odds and ends. And that doesn’t even cover your safety equipment. You will also need protective clothing including, heavy pants, thick long sleeve shirts, padded vest, full face mask, gloves, and sturdy shoes.
Paintballing is not a dangerous game to play with an exception of taking a paintball shot in the eye, which is why you are required to have as part of your paintball equipment a face mask or goggles that can withstand a direct high velocity paintball shot. Also the amount of protective clothing you wear is completely up to you. The more you wear, the less the paintball will hurt, but too much clothing might restrict your range of motion.
